“If we want to grow in our practice, we have two primary places to go: to the inner ground from which good teaching comes and to the community of fellow teachers from whom we can learn more about ourselves and our craft.....Good talk about good teaching is what we need - to enhance both our professional practise and the selfhood from which it comes. “ Parker. J. Palmer

Prior: Teachers were invited to gain an insight into and become familiar with, each of our 5 Cluster Schools - Welcome Bay, Te Akau ki Papamoa, Omanu, Mount and St Mary's an informal session was held at each school where classrooms were open for viewing and the schools vision and 'point of difference' was shared.
Teachers were sent a 'calendar' and could then make a choice of whose practice they wished to view.

Senerio: Every teacher within the cluster uses a minimum of one block of their release time over this time frame (Term 2 and 3, 2010) to view another teachers practice.

Who is attending which session?

Evaluation: Forms are sent to every teacher attending a session (the week of the session) and they are due back (emailed to facilitator) by the Friday following the session.

Douglas Reeves (2010, ASCD), in his book “Transforming Professional Development into Student Results” states that

“ High Impact professional learning has three essential characteristics: (1) a focus on student learning, (2) rigorous measurement of adult decisions, and (3) a focus on people and practices, not programmes.”
